History
Cedarcrest was once part of 2 other farms. The first was commonly known as the Thompson Farm and consisted of approximately 240 acres. 162 of these acres are now part of Cedarcrest. These acres contain the Wetlands Reserve Program land, approximately 35 acres of Conservation Reserve Program land, and approximately 30 acres still in production. The remaining acres of Cedarcrest are devoted to timber or the farm's homestead.
The other farm forming a part of Cedarcrest was known as the Maxwell Farm. Cedarcrest is home to 90 acres from the Maxwell Farm, 52 of which are in the Conservation Reserve Program and planted in oak and cypress trees, while only about 6 acres is devoted to production agriculture. The remainder is also timber.
